Troop 1113 April Camping – King’s Dominion

Scouts will be camping at Richmond North/Kings Dominion KOA (10061 Kings Dominion Blvd Doswell, VA 23047) and attending King’s Dominion on Saturday.

Cost of the trip includes the amusement park fees. Bring funds for lunch and dinner at the park. The park has 17 Thrill rides, 14 family rides, water park, live entertainment, dining and more. Close-toed shoes are REQUIRED, long pants and a long sleeve shirt is recommended. More information can be found at https://www.kingsdominion.com/.

This trip is spring camping, and each scout MUST dress and pack accordingly. Raingear is mandatory, King’s Dominion will be attended rain or shine.  Each Scout should also be prepared for whatever weather we may encounter, and pack accordingly.

Spring Court of Honor, March 21

Troop,
Our spring Court of Honor is this Wednesday,  March 21.  Please come and help celebrate your fellow Scouts accomplishments.  We will be swearing in the new Patrol leaders plus it will be a good opportunity to sign up for the next camp out.  It is also the last meeting to sign up for Summer camp. The items below are recommended to be brought to the COH to help make our celebration successful.
Please bring the item that corresponds to your rank  or leadership position.
Scout – Second class: chips and dip
First Class – Star: healthy snacks
Life – Eagle: drinks
Scouts currently in a position of leadership or responsibility come early to set up.
Scouts entering a position of leadership or responsibility are responsible for clean up.

Troop 1113 Elections Tonight – March 14

Troop,

Elections are scheduled for tonight, Wednesday, 14 March.  This Troop is run by leadership from the Scouts, if you want/desire an active well run Troop, take part in its leadership and run for a position of leadership or responsibility.  Read the first attachment to get an idea of the roles, responsibilities, and requirements for each position.  Scouts, talk to your parents about your desire to take a position of responsibility in your troop and fill out the second attachment, Leadership Position Application” get your parent to sign it and either scan it in and send it to me or bring it with you to the next Troop meeting.  You will not be able to run for a position if I do not have an application prior to the election on 14 March.

Weekend Camping at the Adventure Park – March 17-18

Scouts will be participating in The Silver Spring Adventure Park climbing on Saturday morning, March 17, 2018.  We meet in the St. Leo’s parking lot at 8:00 AM. Cost of the trip includes the climbing fees.  The park has 13 courses of varying degrees of challenge; 3 yellow, 4 green, 2 blue, 1 black diamond and 1 double black diamond.  A release must be completed in advance. Rain-gear is mandatory; climbing will be conducted rain or shine.  Each Scout should also be prepared for whatever weather we may encounter, and pack accordingly. Scouts should dress in their Class “A” uniform (complete uniform shirt and pants with neckerchief) when leaving St. Leo’s parking lot and when returning. Eat before arriving at St. Leo’s.

February 16-18, 2018 Merit Badge Campout

Scouts will be participating in the completion of a selection of Merit Badges while experiencing cold weather camping February 16-18.  We will be camping in tents at Camp Rock Enon, VA near Gore, Virginia.  Merit Badges offered will be Chess, Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the Community, and Public Speaking.  We will be conducting the Merit Badges primarily indoors, but this will be cold weather camping.

Close-toed shoes are REQUIRED, long pants and a long sleeve shirt and multiple layers of clothing are required.  This trip is winter camping, and each scout MUST dress and pack accordingly. Rain gear is mandatory.  Scouts not having appropriate equipment/clothing will not be allowed to attend for their own safety.  Each Scout should also be prepared for whatever weather we may encounter, and pack accordingly.

2018 Mulch Flyer Delivery Notice

Troop Mandatory Event,
The date for delivering Mulch Flyers this year is Saturday February 10, 2018.
The Troop will need 8 – 10 cars and adult drivers on Saturday February 10th starting at 9:00 AM.  We will leave from St. Leo’s parking lot to deliver  Mulch Flyers to local neighborhoods.  Drivers will be given maps of selected neighborhoods and about 150 flyers to deliver.  The Scouts will provide the labor to deliver the Mulch Flyers to individual houses using the buddy system.  Please come in Class-A uniform for flyer delivery.
As usual, doughnuts, coffee, and hot chocolate will be made available.
With full participation we should be done by lunchtime.  Mulch Flyer delivery is the first step in our Mulch delivery program. This is the Troop’s only fund raiser all year long.  Please plan on participating. The flyer delivery activity is mandatory for all scouts.
