TROOP 1113 PHILMONT 2017 INFORMATION

Troop 1113 currently has reservations for two crews (24 Scouts/Adults) to attend Philmont Scout Ranch in July of 2017. Philmont Scout Ranch is the Boy Scouts’ of America premiere High Adventure Base. Crews consist of a maximum of 12 Scouts/Adults. More information can be found at: http://philmontscoutranch.org/

Trip Dates: 7/14 – 7/29 (Expedition dates are 7/16-7/28) Crews: Troop 1113 Crew (716-K) and Venture Crew (716-BB)

Trip Overview: Fly to Denver, travel by bus/van to the Philmont Scout Reservation spending two nights in Colorado Springs for altitude acclimatization and sightseeing. Arrive at camp and spend the first day preparing for the Trek. Execute a 10- day Trek (mileage and Trek itinerary determined by the Scouts in Spring 2017). Return to camp for clean-up and spend one night. Travel by bus/van to Denver and fly home.

Cost: Approximately $2000. Down payment of $500 due by 28 September 2016. Second payment of $500 due on 11 January 2017. Final payment of approximately $1000 due on 8 March 2017. Trek cost is $895 per Scouter/Adult with the difference being applied to transportation and lodging costs.

Equipment: An equipment list will be sent via separate correspondence and a walk-through will be provided during an October Scout Meeting. Good boots and a good backpack are necessary for a good experience.

Conditioning: Philmont is a High Adventure base. Some crews can cover in excess of 10-miles a day in rugged mountainous terrain and experience elevation changes of several thousand feet. Conditioning is a must!
