Greetings Scouts and Scouters,
Below is Dick Greene’s wrap up of our 2016 Mulch Drive. As is clear we have accomplished our goal of raising funds to cover our annual operating expenses. I’m very proud of everyone’s individual contributions. A special thanks to Mr. Dick Greene and all of his excellent organizational skills. I did also enjoy seeing our old friends Mr. Rosenberger and Mr. McDade helping out with this year’s deliveries along with everyone else. Thank you and now it’s time to go camping.
Yours in Scouting,
Troop 1113 Scoutmaster
TROOP 1113 MULCH FUNDRAISER 2016 WRAP-UP
Congratulations are in order to all the Scouts and parents of Troop 1113 who delivered mulch to 21 neighborhoods in about 9 hours during the mulch drive this year. This was an increase of about three hours over last year with fewer Scouts in the Troop, and a number of Scouts away for travel with their families. Except for returning equipment and supplies to the shed, we were all out of the lot by 3:45. There were no injuries, no missed deliveries, and most broken bags were salvaged with duct tape for sale to one loyal Troop member.
Some 20 hardworking Scouts and friends took part this year. Some 20 parents also volunteered in the lot, and on the road. We couldn’t have done it without our parent volunteers and their donated vehicles, gas, time, and efforts. The yard set up was efficient despite the on-going construction, and the food was excellent. There was a good mix of delivery vehicles with one large flatbed truck, one mini-flatbed, five pick-ups, two large trailers, and 1 van. The forklift was kept humming all day long, loading mulch and making numerous deliveries throughout the neighborhood. Smooth operators all.
Congratulations, and thank you one and all.
