A Veterans Day Message
In 1920 Calvin Coolidge quoted the young Byzantine Emperor Maurice Tiberius Augustus
“The nation which forgets its defenders will itself be forgotten”
Almost 100 years from the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month in the year 1918 America signed an Armistice with Germany ending the “Great War” a war that in itself contributed to 35 million casualties. Imagine everyone in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland and Virginia disappear and you get close to the number of casualties. Unimaginable by today’s standards and since then our country has called upon its military over 150 times to provide humanitarian aid, military assistance, security force, international training etc…
This Tuesday on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month we have not forgotten our defenders. We take time to shake hands, and thank our friends who have helped defend our nation. As well as to praise and thank those who paved the way before us. To give us the freedom to choose, grow and work hard for our own dreams. On this day we say thank you to all persons who have taken their countries well being into their hands.
Thank you to all veterans and most importantly their families. America is what it is because you have given it the opportunity…
Please join me and take the time to honor those who have served and especially the ones who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom and security.
God Bless America and be safe.
